(Tristar 1 - born in 2015 or 2014)

Group 1 Training

Group 1 train for two hours from 8.30am to 10.30am on Saturdays during school terms at our main training area Carver Barracks. From Sept 2023 the group is for those who were born in 2014 or 2015 who will race in the Tristar 1 age group in 2024.

The aim of the group is to develop good technique, discipline and all round coordination skills in a fun competitive environment differentiated so suit all abilities.

Swim training is now provided on Sunday mornings and is an extra session to Saturday training; more information can be found here.

TriStar 1

Aged 9 or 10 at the 31 December of the year race is held.

This is the second youngest age group and is based on age at the end of the year. TriStar 1's belong to Group 1 of our Saturday morning training groups.

Races are usually held on school playing fields on grass. Open water races are rare and if cycling on tarmac it will be on roads with traffic. Because of the short distances, quick transitions are very important.

TriStar 1's can compete in our Club Championship and in the Eastern Region Children' League and there is asummary of all races on our East Region Race Calendar. On these pages the links tell you about each race and how and when to enter.

The standard race distances set out in the BTF rulebook for this age group are:

  • Swim 150m (pool) 150m to 200m (open water)
  • Bike 2km (grass) 4km (tarmac)
  • Run 1.2km
Duathlon
  • Run 1.2km
  • Bike 2km (grass) 4km (tarmac)
  • Run 400m
Aquathon
  • Swim 150m (pool) 150m to 200m (open water)
  • Run 1.5km

Elaine Bramley

Elaine joined the coaching team for Group S in Spring 2013 and started coaching Group 2 in Sept 2014 and became Group Leader of Group 1 in 2017. She gained her BTF Level 2 qualification in March 2015 and completed the BTF Regional Technical Race Officials Course in October 2016.

Elaine is the Junior Club Secretary on the Management Team and Assistant Race Director.    Elaine is the Welfare Officer for the East Region, supporting the regional clubs.  So is very busy managing the club operations behind the scenes as well as working full time.  

Elaine's previously rowed for Cambridge 99s and used to help with coaching the junior and development squads. In August 2013 Elaine completed the inaugural Ride100 London and in Sept 2016 Elaine completed the Dart 10km swim , she has also completed in several triathlons including Blenheim Palace & Windsor Triathlons.  Due to time pressures Elaine focuses on Open Water swimming, and enjoys finding lakes, rivers and sea swims around the UK, or swim holidays further afield.

Elaine recognizes that  participation in sport and physical activity can empower individual girls and women in particular. Involvement in sport and physical activity can, for example, build life skills, confidence and body awareness and may create social networks, which result in dramatic positive life changes for participants.   

She is also a cat lover which is fortunate as she has provided a home for Wallace our club mascot.
